Location Research

In this I will be talking about our location research

In film, location is key. Location can change the atmosphere of a scene completely, for example, for our film, it would need to have a happy atmosphere when they meet at the train station, it would have to be open with nice looking streets to create the right atmosphere for a romance film, if it was a run-down neighbourhood with graffiti everywhere it wouldn’t create a happy feeling.

For our film, it is set in three different locations; the first location we will see is the inside of our female characters house, mainly her bedroom, her alarm clock would be the first thing we’d see, but it would turn into our establishing shot of her bedroom. The two pictures below are from existing media products that will look similar to our short film, one is from pretty woman (alarm clock) and the other is from p.s I love you.

This is the bedroom that we would be filming in, throughout the film we would be seeing other parts of the protagonists house, such as the kitchen and bathroom. From the picture of the bedroom that we have, we can tell that it is a very gender neutral room, however it is a large room which would suggest that the protagonist is from a  wealthy background, this would mean that the house would be large to match the room, so it would represent wealth.

Our next location would be where our character is rushing to the train station to get to her interview on time. Below is a piece of existing media that will look similar to our location, it is a shot from the film The Tourist.

This is the location that we will be filming at, this location is important because this is where our characters will meet for the first outcome. The train station would represent that the town is connected or linked to larger places and our characters are able to commute with ease.

Our final location will be the office, for her interview, this is also an important location because it is where our character will meet in the second outcome. The picture below is from an existing piece of media, a film called, the pursuit of happiness.

The representation in the image shows that they will be in a formal interview and will have to be professional.

After this I will be posting the costume research.
